Seeing any broods of grouse, young snowshoes or moose this year along the BWCA. A couple of years ago the snowshoes seemed to be coming back than went down a little again. Any
ruff grouse broods and how many? Moose?

Between 2 bwca trips and a week long cabin stay along the Gunflint Trail this year my total moose count is zero.

Last week we saw a grouse w/a brood (not sure of how many as they were hiding but I could hear them while the adult was acting tough) along the BRT overlook between Clearwater and Mountain lakes. We also saw another one with a brood of at least 3 in the Trails End campground.

I think the grouse are up on the upswing.
Just hope snowshoes make a comeback also. Farther south like Mille lacs area growing up we had snowshoe hare everywhere> Now much of north central Minnesota they are very rare.
