Hello all,
My last trip to Quetico included one minor slip on a portage that sent the canoe flying directly onto a sharp rock. The 10'' vertical gash starting (or maybe ending) at the gunwale made things more interesting, but ultimately we made it home without much trouble. Now the boat needs a Band-Aid.
I've attempted to contact Northwest Canoes in the Twin Cities to no avail (they won't send me an estimate or return any of my follow-up emails for some reason...I don't know why). The Wenonah factory does repairs, so that's my next stop unless there are options y'all might suggest. I'm also not confident enough in my canoe-fixing abilities to tackle this one myself, unless it's so easy even an English teacher can do it.

Thanks for the advice re: the previous thread. I'll do a search to pull it up. Also, I do have a photo, but I couldn't upload it for some reason. I'll try to get one posted soon.
It's a Kevlar boat. I live near St Cloud, MN (about an hour northwest of the Twin Cities).

Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

I've had the best response by stopping by to chat with Dennis. That may not be an option for folks who are not local. At the very least, he seems very willing to discuss canoe repairs and provide you with quality repair materials. I was just in there in June to get the long machine screws for my Northwinds solo seat. He was busy with a lot of projects already!

Ah, so Dennis is away. That's probably why I haven't heard anything back for two weeks. I'd prefer to go there than Winona/Wenonah simply because it's closer. Plus, I've heard good things.
Thank you very much for the offer, Arcola. If things don't work out elsewhere, I'll definitely take you up on it.
