After spending a week spoiling #6 grandkid (1 yr old) we hope to leave tomorrow for Alaska..... but looking at news and maps BC and Alberta have massive fires and road closures..... bummer Looking at plan B... drive to west coast and then down through Oregon or ?....
If I don't get moosemom up to Alaska I will never hear the end of it.

You can still have a great trip. Come on out here to Washington and do Mt. Rainier and the Olympics, drop south and visit Hood and Crater Lake, and then down into northern California if you want. But here's hoping you make Alaska.

I'm down south of Seattle and the haze is unbelievable. I actually postponed an overnight hike because of the air quality and heat. Crazy.

Sag Joe, my daughter does the mountain hiking our there. She did Rainier a few weeks ago. She's done Hood, Hellen and others. All because she sees me with my online friends and she found her own out there.
