What is a reasonable price for an old Bell Northwind in decent shape? Wear on the bottom. Not deformed. All wood intact. And is there a design difference compared to the Northstar model or just different material?

Thank you,

Adam

The biggest difference between Bell and Northstar Northwinds is that the Northstar models do not have the tumble home that the Bell models did. At the waterline they are supposed to be the same, so performance should be equal. Can't speak to the materials. The price is really dependent on the overall condition. Was it rode hard and put away wet? Age is a small factor if the condition is good (personal opinion).

Thank you for the info! What does that mean for performance characteristics?the seller wants 700 for the canoe. Here are some photos.

OK, that is a royalex version. I was referring to the composite version of the boat. Due to the material differences it is a slightly different canoe because of manufacturing requirements. It's really not comparable to the current Northstar canoes. It is supposed to be 16.5 ft for the royalex version v.s. 17.5 ft for the composite. I have no experience with them, but have heard they are good. $700 is probably a good price for it.

$700 seems reasonable to me. Appears to be in very good condition, and right or wrong Royalex boats are commanding a premium these days.
