My trip is only 3 days away. We put in at Mudro on the 19th. I can't wait and in my excitement in the garage this morning I knocked over an old army cot that I have and it fell on my right foot while I was in my stocking feet. I think I may have broken two toes. I went to work at 1200 and it has been swelling in my boot as my shift goes on. Might make that Mudro portage interesting!!! Bring on the ibruprofen...lol!!!

Well your foot will hurt for a long time. Ice, Ibuprofen, elevate for swelling. If it's just the toe, buddy tape it to the next toe and wear a hard soled shoe. I am not a "run to the doctor" person generally but if I were leaving for the BWCA I may consider getting an x-ray if you got hit higher up on the foot. It would rule out a fracture.

Good luck

My wife tore the nail off her big toe the night before a ten day trip. Made the trip anyway.
Another year she pulled a tendon loose in her foot. Made the trip anyway.
Suck it up, brother! It's the BWCA after all.
Seriously, hope you can do your trip.
By the way - the wife doesn't go along much anymore.

Ouch! I have a couple of those old army cots. Heavy! I hope you feel better in the next couple days.

Lol...not a whole lot could stop me from going and not looking for sympathy. I played offensive line in college and played with broken bones every year. It is really not a big deal. This is the trip I look forward to the most. When I smell the pines and hear loons I won't even know my foot hurts!

If its just a toe or 2 and theres no displacement then I'd just tape them up and soldier on. I've broken a few toes and fingers over the years. As long as everything is still in place and just cracked there really isn't much a doctor is going to do other than to verify that its actually broken. Its probably going to hurt a little but shouldn't be that bad of pain where you can't enjoy yourself.

If its higher up in the foot and you think something else in your foot might be broken it might be worth an xray. Might be able to get some sort of boot or something to help support it while you walk

Going to go north at Bemidji since 2 has a bunch of road construction east of Bemidji. We will be in Ely pretty early on Friday. It would be great to meet you!
