I saw a post on card games, just wondering if anyone else takes a chess set? It is me and my son on our trips and we play everynight before bed.

I haven't played chess since the 6th grade, and I wasn't very good THEN. It's an incredible game but it's not a lot of fun if you always lose....;-)

We always take cribbage. In 30 years I have won maybe 10 times. Not much fun but it's something to do on a rainy day.

This sounds cool but how do you pack the set and keep it dry? Is it just a cardboard board and plastic pieces? I only have an all wood set so it would be heavy. Props to you though, this sounds like a fun, before bed activity.

I love chess, haven't played in a while. I used to take a small travel backgammon game. Goes faster, and a kid can beat you on the first try.

I am going up this coming week and we are taking a chess set. We have a silicone board that is awesome. It was $12, folds to fit in a sandwich bag with the pieces, waterproof, and lays flat every time. Got it on Amazon.
