Pulled a pack down from the rafters of my garage this afternoon, out popped three baby mice. Crosby thought they were fun. At 9 months old it appears he doesn't have that killer terrier streak, yet. A month from now we will be attempting the SHT, his first real trip.

Anybody have any surprising occupied pack stories?

Used to have mice get into my food pack but that was only in Quetico. Now I have a zipper top and keep everything sealed inside the pack. Never have issues any longer.

After eating lunch out of the Duluth food pack we hung the pack up in a tree and went fishing. When it was dinner we got the pack down. A mouse/chipmunk or two had ate there way through most of the food nibbling on a bit of everything. Then they ate thier way right out of the pack.

2 different trips to the same campsite , (the shale rock one on Gogebic) , my buddy pulled out a stick of butter for breakfast , later it was gone , then he pulled out another stick and that disappeared also the little critters were running away with a whole stick of butter, another time me and a buddy ate steak that day and threw the fat on the ground, after the sun went down there were hundreds if not thousands of mice running over our feet and carrying away the scraps of meat , i figured the mice had a highway systems underneath all that shale rock.

That's quite a declaration of war. You don't mess with someone's butter on the trail.
