Ok don't kill me but I bought a kayak. That's right I said kayak. For years I have fished my local waters from my Merlin and loved it. There is a certain "zen" thing to dipping the paddle in the water and moving quietly along. So still and connected to the water.

Two weeks ago I bought a 2017 Hobie Revolution 13. This boat is unbelievable. Super stable and the ability to pedal forwards and backwards. The boat is a game changer as far as fishing is concerned. So far the only time I have ever used the paddle is to push off from shore. After that it is a hands free operation. No more paddle, cast, reel,uh oh pick up the paddle because I am drifting.

The only downside so far is that my canoe has way more places to put things but in the short time that I have owned it I have found places for all my normal fishing gear. Also my canoe is much lighter but I have not had an issue cartopping or getting it to the water. My cart that I use with my Merlin works just fine on this boat.

The other plus is that I now can start exercising my leg muscles.

No way am I abandoning my Merlin, it is a real gem, but this craft is suiting me fine.

Paddling is paddling and I think it's great! I own 3 yaks myself and always look forward to getting into them in the streams here in the south.

Enjoy!

Looks like a nice setup

That would be a good setup for me at home. Paddling is just to hard on my neck. I wonder if that would be legal within motor zones in the bw.

Looks like you went over to the dark side with a light colored ride. However, you are no longer allowed to take communion :} (enjoy the boat!)

I purposely chose the bright color for safety reasons. I spend my winters in Florida and some of the water that I fish there has boats entering and exiting the Gulf. My thoughts are that this color won't blend in.

Sweet dreams are made of plastic.
Who am I to disagree?
You'll travel the world and the seven seas.
Everybody's fishing for something!

Some of us want to use your boat.
Some of us want to abuse your boat.

But hold your head high.
Paddlin' on.
Keep your head high.
Paddlin' on.
