Good afternoon fellow travellers,

Just got back from a 7 night trip starting at Snowbank and paddling to Thomas where we base camped. 3/8 oz hair jigs with a leech right off the bottom were the ticket this trip. The fishing wasn't wildly successful, but we caught steady walleye and we got an 8 lb laker and a 45" northern on the rig.

As much as we broke away from the "heavy crowds" once we got to Thomas, we are really hoping to get to a more exclusive, well producing lake next trip. I'm already starting to plan next year's trip, and I'm really curious to know if anyone has any suggestions on lakes/loops that you really have to earn (very difficult access) but are secluded and good producers.

I get that asking for a hot spot is a ridiculous request in a public forum and I am actually looking forward to the creative ways that people will tell me I'm a few screws short for ever asking...

Basically, what I'm saying is that the next trip I take, I am going to make sure my crew is in top shape and able to do 400+ rod, single portages and get to any lake because I know there are many lakes out there that are worth the effort and I'm ready to earn them.

Since my first BW trip when I was 14 (20 yrs ago), I've done eight BW trips, 1 Q trip, and WCPP trip. I'm much more familiar with BW maps/trip planning/costs. I'll be honest that I love the cost of BW trips. When I went to Quetico, I was with a crew led by a family friend who was more into trekking than fishing so I really don't know anything about fishing the Q. Hence, I'm curious to hear more about the Q and possible routes that would make it worth it for a base camping fishing crew to spend the extra $200 to $300 to cross the border.

I'm an Eagle Scout and give my word that if you private message me a lake name, I will not share or repost any of the information and will only use for personal trip planning.

Thanks in advance for advice and/or tactful insults :)
