I'll be arriving in Duluth Saturday 9/9 and a few of us will get together for dinner at Duluth Grill. Please join us if you can. I have a long travel day, but should be there and ready for dinner by 6:00, barring unforeseen travel delays. If you can make it, email me with Duluth dinner and your forum name in the subject. I hope we can get a pretty good group together this year.

As of now there is a decent chance that I can make it. Little duckling's soccer looks good for that weekend but that could change as teams have until this Friday to reschedule games and usually 1 or 2 of the games get changed from the original schedule. I'll have a better idea next weekend.
Hoping to meet you boonie and it would be great to see you again Ben.

Hope you can make it, ducks. If you do, maybe there'll be "roast duck" on the menu! ;). I'll be there, inspector13, and nctry. Puffin Gin and Round River were also there last year. I'm hoping they'll make it again, but haven't heard. Pete (pswith5) is a possibility.

Wish I could be there tonight. Have fun!!!
Birthday party for a friend's miracle baby that just turned 1 after spending the first 3 months of it's life at Children's Hospital and they didn't think was going to make it. Now he is a happy 1 year old doing everything a toddler should be doing. After that it's off to a soccer game.

Had a great time visiting and eating with Boonie (Steve), Inspector 13 (Steve), Pete (sometimes known as Steve to me at least, even though he has a brother Steve), and Karen. Sorry Ben wasn't able to make it but we all know how important it is to honor our friends by going to funerals. The Steves, including Pete, are up north on way to their canoe trips; Karen should be home from her time up north. Enjoyed seeing y'all and wish you great paddling. Here's a photo outside the Duluth Grill after we'd filled our stomaches.

Yes, I was so happy to get to meet up with Boonie again. It is always a pleasure to meet up with friends new and old. I finally got to meet Ginny and I had a wonderful evening in Duluth with Pete and Steve, too! I had a camera, too so here is my pic with Ginny and the guys. and a view from Enger Tower.

boonie and all,
I'll try to make it in 2018.
I'm leaving Alaska for Duluth in 6 weeks. (Retiring).
Looking forward to it next year.

May the rivers be crooked and winding, and your portages lonesome, leading to the most amazing view.

I was so discussed Saturday night. The funeral was for a friend from here like Jan was to the bwca.com community. When they did the last call through dispatch there were guys just bawling. Earlier in the day I'd failed to finish getting the plate on for the trusses as the framing was so time consuming. I was ready to give up for the day and tried to give up. I called my buddy Pete who told me he'd be there at eight with his excavator to lift the trusses. He brought several guys and here is what I ended up with...
The reason this is a big deal is after next Thursday's surgery I'm done until possible foul weather season. So this put me on pace to get it closed in enough for what will keep the building going come winter.
