I know, not truly in the BW but this where we ended up picking for a family fishing trip. We'll be there next week (early Sept) and are wondering if anyone has tips or things to try. We don't often fish up there this time of year so that will be new. Live bait for walleye? Crawlers, minnows, etc? Thanks!

I was just use there. Fished all 3 hard. Had the best luck on white iron. Garden was really tough for fishing. If I could do over I'd spend all of my time on white iron.

Thanks, my email is good in profile if you'd like to share anything more. We've never been there before so half our time will probably be spent just learning the lakes. We're staying on white iron so that's good to hear I guess.

Haven't fished there in a few years, but out of the three lakes I've also had the most luck on White Iron - though sometimes on Garden as well. That channel between White Iron (Silver Rapids) and Farm always looks so nice & promising, and holds some really deep water, but rarely panned out for me. Where are you staying on White Iron?
If I can find some of my stuff/maps, might be able to email you a few spots as well.

Ya can pick up a fishing hotspots map of the 3 lakes for like 5 bucks.where the kawishwi dumps into white iron has always been good to me. Big eyes and northerns.
Not so much on smalls.
Have always been tempted to drift from the Feinberg bridge down to the dam. But never have. Good luck

Check your email! Let me know if you have any questions, I can probably even answer them in person, I'll be at the Fall Lake campground from 9/6-12.

Thanks everyone, we'll give it a shot and see how it goes. I've done a few BW trips in August but most of my MN fishing is in May/June when things are much different.

Anyone know if leeches can still be found anywhere?

Yeah I did the same thing. Stayed for a week and learned the lakes for half of it. If you do better on garden please let me know. I fished the snot out of that lake and couldn't even pull out 2lb northerns... that was 3 weeks ago though... maybe fishing has improved since then...

How deep were you finding walleyes in White Iron? That's probably the most unknown thing for us being this late in the summer.
