The last few days the sun has been belching out some real strong solar flares. Their impact can been seen tonight.

KP index is at 8 now.

Yes, but very washed out by moonlight. Certainly not the spectacular display that was expected by some.

We saw them in the UP around 9:30pm EST. It was pretty high in the sky. I wish I would have gotten further from light pollution, I'm sure it would have been spectacular.

The aurora forecast for next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday look very promising.

I sat in a canoe in the middle of a lake at midnight this weekend near the BWCA watching for Northern lights. It was cold, but the walleyes were hitting top water. We saw nothing but it was beautiful .
