One option for my upcoming trip (Sept. 19 entry) is to enter at Mudro and navigate up the Horse River. If anyone has visited the area recently, I will be checking this page for any relevant information. I found a post from Labor Day weekend stating that water levels were somewhat low. Please update this info if you can! :)

Chime in with any thoughts and comments.

From Mudro that would be "down" the Horse River.

Water levels are good for fall but you'll have plenty of scrapes and pull overs and pull throughs on the way down the Horse. Beaver Dams on Pickett Creek make most of the paddle to Mudro good, but very boney between the last beaver dam and the lake.

Oops. DOWN the horse.... I was not thinking technically there. :)

Thanks for the info.

I agree, we went in labor day weekend and came out last weekend. In that week time the dam had grown considerably and you are pretty much push poling between the dam and lake. I think we had to get out on 3 occasions.

It's nice to see that some decent rain showers are passing through that area right now! I'm headed up that way in two weeks...so....rain, rain, come this way!!

I exited the BWCA through this entry point at 7 PM last night. As you leave the EP, about halfway down the creek is a very extensive beaver dam that goes across the creek and is a good 2 feet in height -- and yes, the beavers are busily working on it while you approach it! (very cool). Plan on getting your feet wet right away!

After the dam, it gets a little shallow in the narrows right before the lake, so watch out for those pesky boulders below. It's absolutely beautiful with the foliage! I was a little shocked to come out last night and count 20 cars in the parking lot still!
