Does anyone own or use any of the Shaw and Tenney paddles from Maine? I have a chance to pick one up, an otter tail, and was just wondering what anyone who owns one thinks of it. Thanks in advance. Jerry G

I picked a couple used on eBay a couple of years ago. They're certainly nice paddles, they feel good to use, and I'm a fan of the otter tail design generally. My one gripe is that the finish came off pretty badly on one of them where it sometimes rubs on the gunwale. I realize my technique is a root cause here, but other paddles have held up much better.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I went ahead and picked up the paddle. It is very lightweight for a traditional wood paddle. I have the same problem of having some paddles dinged because of my stroke style. But they are fun to paddle. JerryG

Perhaps you could wrap or whip your paddles.
