Is it ok for a group of 3 to enter basswood in Oct with 25hp with intentions to camp and fish walleye? I'm not able to locate a permit?

You don't need a permit come October. You still have to abide by all the BWCA regulations regarding motor horsepower limitations and so on. Have a great trip.

You do need a permit; they are just self-issued available at the entry point or the ranger station.
