Did I miss a longer more gradual portage or am I just a wuss?

Its a short but mighty challenging portage. I've seen folks pulling canoes up with a rope. No low road on this one.

It's definitely a tough one. Not for the faint of heart.

I went up it in the rain and swore I never would go down it if it was wet. Luckily there's roots for hand holds. It didn't work too well for my dog. I had to pull her up a rock face at one point.

That is a tough one when wet.

It was raining for us in both directions. Had to carry with 2 people going up. On the way down I planted the bow into dirt spots and pivoted down the rock faces.

After I got to the bottom I found out the portage was on the south side of the falls.

Oh wow, that's a bad place to find out. It's bad enough on the right side, I surely wouldn't want to do the side you did with packs and a canoe.

Did it for the first time in August. We didn't know which side it was on and after looking at it, we checked the north side also.....and then reluctantly realized we had to crawl up that rock face with a canoe on our head. I guess there's a reason they put a jacuzzi half way up ;)
