I noticed that the markers along the border have been re-done recently. Does anybody know anything about this project. Was in a joint U.S. / Canada project?
Are the locations and marker numbers mapped?

The only marker number locations I've seen were on a USGS Topo maps. I've only seen the old style markers.

I guess I should have looked around first. I figured it would be very difficult to find but I found the map at the link below which has all the marker locations and numbers.

The first time I paddled crooked lake, I saw one and only one. Now, whenever I'm up on the border I see a ton of them. Not sure if new, or if I just easily recognize the subtle shape/size of them along the lakeshores.

I noticed that they either replaced the old ones with silvery ones or they painted the old drab colored markers silver.

Nearly all of the markers along the US-Canadian border are not on the border at all, but are survey markers from which the actual border (almost all on water) can be triangulated.

I thought they were painted. Seemed like over spray around them and no signs of new install - but I only looked at a few last fall.
