Does anyone have experience with the Altama Maritime Assault Boot. They come in low and mid, 3 colors. This looks like a nice wet footing boot.

HPD-

It looks very similar to the older OTB Abyss boots I have. I have worn them for several years and been fairly satisfied with them, although wished for better grip on the last trip. These may have a better sole for that judging by the description. I also wished for a little more protection/support underfoot on rocky portages, but they were adequate with enough insole. The Abyss had three insoles for adjusting fit, but I see no mention of that. The Abyss seemed short and I had to size up one.

I have a pair of New Balance OTB Abyss boots. From day one my feet didn't like them and I could never get comfortable paddling while kneeling. I need something different.

These Altamas' have the look of a canoeing shoe once sold by LL BEAN. They were nothing more than khaki colored cotton canvas high top sneakers having the general look of a Converse sneaker. The LL Bean boot had a crepe rubber sole and they were great in a canoe.

I did find this on YouTube. It's hard to tell how much different they are from the NB OTB's, but there does seem to be a different, softer insole. And you can get a low cut shoe. You'll probably just have to get a pair to see . . .

If you do, let us know what you think of them.

I love my NB OTB abyss boots, they're great for me. Light, a little ankle support, they drain, good grip, overall good for my use

I could not resist a $$off offer that Tacticalgear.com had. I bought the low cuts. I normally wear 10.5 and I got the 11. The fit is good. The shoe is nicely made and comfortable with wool socks. Now I wait to give it a try on the trail

I have a pair if Rocky S2V jungle boots on the way. At 25% off I decided to see what they are like. Hoping they have ankle support. I will let you know my impressions when they arrive.

Do these Altama shoes dry out fast? I'm really intrigued by them! Looks like the perfect portaging shoe
