I have come up with the idea of writing a journal style story. I don't know what to think and would appreciate any and all feedback.

I decided to leave the first of June. With the varying turbulence of weather up here I believe that it will provide me with enough time to get ready for winter, but isn’t so early that the cold weather won’t delay any progress. Today I left the last “town” that I would see in some time, in a long time. I paddled my 17 foot solo canoe with the water lapped just inches below the gunwales of my overloaded canoe. I started on a small lake that the town was built on. After a good half hour of strong paddle strokes fueled by my uncontainable excitement I was alone. I am alone and there isn’t one time in my life that I can feel more excited. I am done with all of the bullshit of society today. I am done with social media. I am done with the wasteful nature of the modernized world. I am done with the selfless and self centered people of the world and now I am free.

I don’t really know why I decided to bring a journal along, it’s not like anyone will read it. I think that I decided to bring it with to keep me sane, provide something to do during the dead of winter. I guess I should write down my day so I can look back and remember how it all started. Well here it goes. Today and I suppose you could also include yesterday as well, I traveled all day. Waking up at 5:00 AM it was cold, I would guess in the high 30s. After eating a quick breakfast of rolled oats and taking down the tarp and packing up the sleeping bag I was off. Paddling from 6:00 AM to around 6:00 PM I traversed only around 15 kilometers according to my maps. Yesterday I traveled much less only around 8 Kilometers because three portages required me to unload and load all of my equipment taking four trips to carry everything. Progress is slow but I would guess that I am approximately one third of the way to the final destination.

Over the last few days I have made some serious progress and am now approaching the lake with only about 5 Kilometers left to go. The last few days have been really busy with not time to write. I have been getting in closer to 8:00 now exhausted from the day of work.

There at last. I am finally at the lake. Now it is time to figure out a suitable permanent camp.

I found it. On the Southeast side of the Lake I found the perfect place for a camp. The water comes to a 100 yard long pebble beach protected on each side by large jagged granite rocks. The forest behind it is flat for about only 80 feet and then there was a steep incline before it flattened out forming a sort of plateau. The site is perfect. The beach is a good place for the canoe and any other raft I plan on building. The flat forest behind the beach is an ideal place for a cabin protected on three sides increasing safety for storms. Lastly, the high plateau like cliff would be a nice place for crops in the distant future. Overall I would give it an 8 out of 10 but it would have to work. Lots of work to do in the next few days.

So far so good. I like your writing style. I would buy it.

Such styles hold interest largely if they are true, as in, "this happened to me". I am reminded of the journals of Lewis and Clark.

So are you in an area you can build a shelter and other Bushcraft things? Your name isn't Aaron is it? Haha.
Seriously it sounds all good. You'd have my attention.
