I believe the Therm-A-Rest is 2.5" thick while the Air Core is 3.5" thick. I'm looking for a lightweight pad also and I am leaning towards the BA Insulated Q-Core SLX. I compared noise, weight, packable size, thickness, material, valves and customer service experiences. I also compared many pads side-by-side at REI this past week and it solidified my decision. Now I'm just waiting for them to go on sale.
I just got one of the BA Ultra IAC pads that has the different valve to it. It has one valve for inflation and one large one to deflate. I think this will be much better than the twist type valves on the old pads.
