I was fortunate enough to buy this beauty from the original owner.
He said it was one of the first and was Kevlar, Fiberglass, and Carbon Fiber.
I'm looking for any information. It weighs about 41lbs.

Canoe was bought originally from Canoesport in Houston,tx. Those skid plates are flush and look like they were original and not added later.

I would contact Ted Bell @ Northstar and he can certainly answer any of your 1993 Bell Wildfire questions.

Also, I think Bear Paulsen is a BWCA.com member. I think he is the current marketing manager for Northstar and I am sure he could help you too.

I emailed Northstar for my friend about it and Bear replied. He said that all the Bell records went to ORC so he did not have specifics. He said it was a very early Wildfire. Everything I found shows it was the first year they were built.

What info exactly are you looking for? I started at Bell in 93 and may have built that boat.

I'm interested in the layup.
How exactly was it constructed?
Did it have a name and how long was it utilized?
Was this one of the first?
I'm really excited to have found this boat and any information is appreciated. The previous owner said the color is called blueberry.

Thanks in advance for anything you can tell me.

I don't know if it was the very first one , but one of the first year of production.
The Lam had/has no name per se, but there is a layer of 6 oz. S glass behind the gel, then a blanket of Kev, after which "partials" of Carbon and Kevlar layed in the key places as you can see in the boat. To finish it off another blanket of Kev went over it all. It is a bullet-proof lam sched!!!, and came with Charlie Wilson; I think he learned much from Dave Curtis. To trim at that time, White ash was made one stick at a time on a Table saw and a Kerf was cut into it to accept the hull edge. #6 screws were used to hold it on. Blueberry is the color. The flotation foam was glued together using 2" closed cell Ethafoam then cut onto blocks, rough cut with a hand saw, and final fitting with a floor model belt sander and glued into the boat using Contact cement. I have a Northbay cruiser and a Flashfire that the glue is still holding. Shortly after I started I designed the familiar "Bell trim" and went to #8 screws, removal of finish washers etal. In 94 I designed the drain slots in the decks with other notions in mind, but alas, marital issues interfered and had to leave the company in the spring of 95.
Hope this helps

Edit: The seat edge was all Ted's doing. Stock seats were ripped and the Walnut add on with epoxy . There may be some screws in them too.

I found out today than Dan Cooke has the very first Wild that began life as David Yost's ,so yours isn't the "first".

That's cool. I never thought that an actual "first" would have been sold at Canoesport in Houston, TX. I'm just happy to have found a wildfire in such good condition. It only has a few minor scratches in the gelcoat, and I plan to enjoy this canoe for a long time. Definitely one on the list of keepers.
Thanks again for the information.
