60 here too in Ohio at 8:30. Need some cold weather to get those fish active. Next week has some nasty weather coming, so I am hopeful. Not too often I hope for colder weather. Nice fire, thought about one myself, but I'm stuck inside drinking a Bud watching football :)

I spent the day walking the woods in central WI scouting for deer. I can't remember when it was as warm for this time in October. Worked up a good sweat.

And the ticks were thick.

Walllee, nice! Up here it's raining. But have had some fires of late and it's really a peaceful time. Enjoy it when you can... Winter is trying to make an appearance I hear.

We have hit 0 degrees F the last few mornings where I live (Kenai Peninsula) in Ak, the medium sized lakes are freezing over, the smaller ones are already frozen.
Our timber crew, thinning a fire break, have started a fire the last couple days to stay warm.
Sunrise is around 09:00 here now.

It's looking chilly when I return to Duluth this coming Wednesday, but it still looks warmer in Duluth, than here in Ak.

I think Wednesday is going to be a great day. Welcome back Linden... Our member who lives on the Echo Trail should be back then too. We need a welcome home wing night. Haha.

We were at a football game in East Lansing yesterday afternoon and evening, sitting in shirtsleeves throughout the entire game. 70+ degrees, lovely breeze, spectacular pink sunset. I told Spartan1 as I was laying out our clothing to get ready for the game that it just seemed surreal; usually on 21st of October I would be hunting around for mittens, scarves, heavy socks and warm boots, to lay out with the mid-weight parkas. Or else trying to figure out how many layers of wool I could fit under my rain gear!

They do say, however, that it will return to more seasonable autumn weather later this week. We sure did enjoy our game in summer weather in October, though! :-)

Warm here in Maine too. Nearly all sixties and seventies through October. If this is the new normal, I expect property prices to start rising as folks down South flee the heat. My mom said a week or so ago that she was thrilled the temperature that day would only be 85. We didn't hit 85 all summer. I just checked zillow and inventory is way down. Maybe it's already happening. Wise to buy before it gets too pricey.

It was my intent to be sitting by a campfire last night, but a frost north of here brought the friend's apple tree to picking time. It was warm and very windy in that tree, heavy thunderstorms and over an inch of rain last night. The fire wouldn't have worked out anyway. Making apple sauce and apple pies today.
I can appreciate the hunting and fishing benefits of some cold weather, but I am still hoping for some campfire nights. Last night's was moved to 11/04 to coincide with a full moon and an otherwise too busy schedule.
Something about a campfire on a fall evening just seems right.

The cold is coming........just a matter of time. In the 70's we were ice fishing by early December. Now we have some winters where it doesn't ice at all.

And 100 years from now people will be talking about how it used to be so warm in Oct, Nov, Dec as a 30 year cold cycle hits. The only sure thing about the climate is that its going to change.

I hope you are correct. Its 4 or 5 years since I have been out ice fishing on or before thanksgiving weekend, I'm not giving up hope on this happening this year yet..
