Went fishing rainbow trout yesterday and fishing was good, but now I think the Souris river Quetico canoe is going into a deep sleep until spring. Put it on a wooden rack in the garage alongside my solo prism.
Must be getting old and too sentimental,I have a little tear in my eye knowing it will be like 6 months before I use it again.
Maybe we need a thread of hotspots to go further south?
Hope you just don't throw your canoe outside for the winter? I hate abuse.

I just can't put it away yet! The stocked trout lakes allow fishing all winter. As long as we have open water the canoe will be readily available to throw on the truck whenever I get time! It is sitting in a nice heated greenhouse, so no canoe abuse here!! Lol

One Alumicraft sits outside all winter, the other is in the wifes garage.
The Smoker Craft is in my other garage, My Old Town Pack and Ally folding canoe are en route from Alaska to Detroit Lakes via a shipping company.
I'm hoping to do a little paddling on the Big Pond when my Ally gets to Duluth, I will have to sweet talk the wife to keep it in the garage.

May the rivers be crooked and winding, and your portages lonesome, leading to the most amazing view.

My old alumicraft 17 with many bumps and bruises also sits outside the other two well protected.

Resting this week as my wife has a little minor surgery scheduled. One should get some use next week and throughout the year? If all goes well, I'll get to meet and paddle my new/used Bell Rockstar thanks to a couple BWCA.com board members!

Boat #1 hasn't been down from the garage since we got home from the family canoe trip in July. Boat #2's been in the cradles since August as I work towards getting it ready for the water next year. Boat #2 might go out for a winter paddle on local streams if I get it done and we're not completely frozen up.
So, I guess one is hibernating and the other is still in the hospital?

Put my Northhwind into hibernation mode on my way home from the BW last week in my dad’s pole barn. She’ll rest well there for the winter. Still have an aluminum tandem and my Northstar ADK solo at the ready until we have ice. Planning on a solo paddle every weekend until the ice makes that impossible. My wife thinks I’m crazy, but some of the best morning paddles of the year are right now.

The MN 2 sits in hibernation in my garage. "The Joint" solo Prism sits in hibernation in my buddies garage on Lake Vermilion. I own the MN 2. I am a tri-owner of "The Joint"--hence the name we call it reflecting joint ownership.

One thing you have THE WHOLE lake or stream to yourself-and no bugs.

Our SR Q 18.5 just went to a new home on Saturday and it's sad to look up at the spot where it used to hang in the garage.
The girls (12 and 10) won't fit side by side in the 3rd seat next year so we sold it to a fellow bwca.commer w/ a 4 year old that loves to be in the canoe. It has gone to a great place ;) Now we are looking for 2 tandems to replace it with ;)

Canoe is on the rack where it will spend the winter. However the season is not over and I was able to tell it this weekend it will get to play with some friends at Lake McBride. It is about cold enough it will get some rest after this trip and the kayak will come out to play more until the river is solid.

Unfortunately my lower control arm rusted through on my car and I welded it back together in a horrible fashion. In about a week I can order a new control arm online, replace it, and then drive on the highway. This will allow me to get my prism to my parents house down in Lakeville where i can store it for the winter. My poor prism has been riding around on my roof getting all sorts of abused :(

Thank you for taking good care of my Spirit ll. I've not done well with this whole surgery thing. Six weeks! I've gone backwards a bit spending time back in the hospital a few times. As soon as I can I will get my canoe out of your way and back to it's quarters. I laughed out loud when the last person to use it said he'd scratched it up good and would help pay for "repairs". These repairs would be happening anyway, next year I hope they use it again and we'll see if they'll recognize it.
My prism is tucked away... It's waiting for that crazy trip I muster up eventually when I figure this medical bull-ony out. My old town? 40 yrs of abuse... Stored in barns, sheds, shelters and usually outside. She's outside again... Poor girl...
The canoes need to be taken care of... But the canoist needs to take care of her/his self also. Paddle all you can when you can. Hard to know when your putting the paddles to rest for the last time.
