Here’s what I know. About 20 years ago I got into Wild Goose by going up the creek from Your. There was and is a short portage from Your into the creek and with a lot of struggle but nothing too difficult, I bushwhacked about 50 yards from the creek into Wildgoose. I then paddle up the creek heading to Orion but I stopped the Eyelet turn off. At that point there was still over 3 feet of water heading toward Orion. I managed to ge into Eyelet and again had great walleye fishing.

I tried a number of times later to get back to Wildgoose but there was a Hugh beaver dam in the creek and on the other side of the beaver dam was a sand river with absolutely no water.

About three years ago in the spring I again tried to get into Wildgoose and surprize- the beavers had damned Your lake at the mouth of the creek and changed the direction of the creek so now it flowed toward Wildgoose. The water was so high that year I got not only into Wildgoose but also into Eyelet without any portaging. The river going onto Orion was really deep but again it is still a long way from Eyelet. If you are going to try I would canoe in the spring.

Wow JD, that is great info and more than I could have hoped for. Thank you very much. I'll be staring at maps all Winter, once again.
Thank you !

Hey Stumpy, I thought I remembered someone posting somewhere about traveling from Your through Orion all the way down to LLC. It stuck in my memory because I had never even heard of the lakes on the route before that report and it looked very remote. I dug around and found the report on Quiet Journey. I'm going to try to post the link below but if it does not work, it's a trip report called Wildgoose Creek 2009 started on Feb 9, 2010. Here's the link -

Thanks Ho Ho !
Some good info there...Also sounds like some nice walleye fishing in those lakes.
It's funny though, sometimes the more info I can get on an area, leads me to look elsewhere. I like finding routes that are a mystery, but getting friends to go with, I most times need to guarantee some fishing.

I thought you might be attracted by the mystery of the area, Stumpy, so I wondered if the additional info would be a plus or a minus. But . . . You asked for it . . . So I shared it

I know you like to explore and yes the exploring and bushwacking etc. is much of the trip.
I love lake trout fishing. But many times I will travel many miles to find out what is in a lake. Once I find out I am ready to move on many times. Seeing and learning for the first time is very important to me also.
Yes I am slowing down so I do less exploring than in past years.

Orion does have trout.
