Well, I've had 2018 trip planned since last fall.
I knew I was not getting any canoe trip in 17.
So my buddy and I have planned a western entry to Wabakimi.
I have the lakes pretty much designated, just not the order in which we will hit them.
But, we have been talking and we might experiment with a different entry.
I have gone in through Smye the last couple trips.
But maybe we'll try a Heathcote entry.
Has anyone ever entered through the southwest end of Heathcote??
Is there a spot to park a vehicle?
It looks like it might exist.
Then paddle northeast across a little lake to a creek that starts at 50.201451, -90.475629.
Then take that creek into Heathcote.

So...a possible route from this entry...Heathcote, Heafur, Flindt River, Flet, Flindt, Wilkie, Smye, Charlotte, Heathcote, and back to point of beginning.
This same basic loop can start/end just west of Nelson Lake also.

Looks interesting. Are you turning right on the 402 road (if I'm remembering that name correctly) and heading east past where the road turns north to head to the Smye entry? Smye has good fishing but outside of the park. Beautiful lake. Gault is worth a day trip off of Flindt. Really good eater-size walleye fishing, especially as the evening hours wax. Parking on the road to Heathcote looks iffy. Where are you seeing a possible parking area, James? Intrigued by this entry.

Yes.
Instead of turning north and going across the tracks, I am thinking head east about 6 miles to 50.201451, -90.475629. It looks like there is a turnaround there and a vehicle might be able to park there. I agree, its sketchy. If no parking, we can turn around and go up to Smye.
