I'm a Buckeye, but more than that, I'm pro-Big Ten and I'm worried we won't be going to the Big Dance.

The Badger defense looked playoff worthy. If they could stop the turnovers they would be pretty impressive.

Well, if the Badgers just keep handling their business, they'll be there. I'm really happy for Miami, too. Never liked them, but love Mark Richt and hated the way he was thrown out like trash in Georgia. I was thinking Saturday night was "Karma" as I flipped back and forth between Auburn beating up on Georgia and the U giving Notre Dame a beatdown. Kind of like the satisfaction I get when Arkansas loses!

I don't think the Badgers can beat the Bucks. Then again, the Bucks are such a hot and cold team that if they catch the Bucks on a cold day, they'll win 49-0.

I didn't think the Bucks were going to get whipped by Iowa but they sure did. Anything is possible at this point. If both Wisconsin and Ohio take care of business we shall find out who the better team is in the Big10 Championship game.

I have said here before on this forum that I don't particularly care for Michigan State. You could put Ohio State in that same category. I can't stand Iowa, I played for a small college in Iowa, and being from Chicago, all I heard was Hawkeyes, Hawkeyes... They have no pro sports team so they are infatuated with the Hawkeyes. Hey man, I'm playing for St. Ambrose...I'm a St. Ambrose Bee! Much cooler than being a Hawkeye, being a Bee I mean. I sure thought it was. So, I don't like Iowa. I graduated from Illinois, but not a big fan. I guess I like Northwestern, but hate watching guys trying to be tough in purple pants. Dilemmas... What do you expect in a conference of fourteen teams that still calls itself the Big Ten. Geez, change your stationary already.
Cheers, scat

I think perhaps Quetico Mike has said it best, in my opinion. "Anything is possible at this point."

The appeal of college sports has always fascinated me. To me, it is a game played by kids, and I love, enjoy, and support it because I love, enjoy, and support my alma mater. If it weren't for that, I wouldn't care at all. I cannot understand the idea of just picking out a team and deciding to root for them when I have no connection to that school. What's up with that? But I guess if I were going to do that, then picking because of the color of their pants would be a logical result. Hmmm. That would just never occur to me.

I do like red and white. So perhaps Wisconsin would work for me?? At least I have been to Madison. I meet virulent ND fans who have never seen South Bend, or people all decked in Maize and Blue (in Michigan we have zillions of what are called "Walmart Wolverines") who don't even know where Ann Arbor and the Big House could be found on a map. Always has puzzled me. Why? And they feel it is fine to insult me if I wear my colors to the grocery store. Sigh.

I didn't choose my university because of the football team, or the school colors. But I have been an alumna for fifty years, (and a fan for 54+ years) when they were National Champions, and in years when they hardly won any games at all. I never hung my head when they lost a game, and I hope I never was too obnoxious when they won big. I am a positive fan, I never boo the opposition, and if you come to my stadium in your colors and sit in my section, I will greet you in a friendly manner. But make no mistake, I bleed Green and White, and I will support my team.

So you choose your team however you think is appropriate, and you make your predictions. I think I'll just watch now and see how it all plays out. I will root for the Green and White when they are playing, and I will root for the Big Ten team that is playing anyone else in a bowl game. And as to how this is all going to play out: "Anything is possible at this point." :-)

Well, my alma mater is SE MO State. I don't get to root for them on TV. I was a rabid fan when they were in Division II and I was younger. Never missed a home game. Then, they moved up, became perennial losers and changed their name from the Indians to Redhawks. Then, they hired a scumbag of a coach whose son was the quarterback and was in the "Police Report" section of the local paper as much as the "Sports" section. So, I jumped off their bandwagon for good.

So when I moved to Wisconsin, football fan that I was, I became a Wisconsin fan and a Packer fan. They weren't that good, but Wisconsin was rebuilding with a new coach by the name of Barry Alvarez. The new guy later made somewhat of a name for himself. I never attended a class at UW, but I am a bigger fan than many whom did/do. I don't think the fact that I never attended Wisconsin discredits me?

Also, along the line, I've become a "Fan" of different coaches and tend to root for them, as long as they aren't playing the Badgers. I love college football, what can I say?

Had I gone to MSU myself, or lived in Michigan for a few years, I have no doubt that my jacket and cap would be GREEN! I'd rather wear my favorite color (green) than red ANY day of the week. (LOL)!

11/14/2017 11:34AM
OOh, now that's pretty!!

But, red is pretty, too. I wore a red shirt to PT on Monday and my therapist, who is a Spartan, looked at me and said, "Gosh, Lynda, did you lose a bet or something?" I hadn't even thought about it being an OSU color! Poor choice for that particular morning, so I had to tell him it was in honor of the Badgers! :-)

He was OK with that.

Not just a Buckeye, but THE Buckeye. My grandfather played for them. My Mom and Dad are both grads. My six sibs are all OSU grads. I even have a scarlet and gray hat that simply reads, "THE" and when I pass another Buckeye in an airport, I always say, "O-H" and I always get "I-O." Go, Bucks!

missmolly - Wow! that is impressive. Nice Ohio State resume, or legacy might be more appropriate perhaps. That is sweet. Me and four sisters graduated from Illinois. Like I said, I played sports for two years in Iowa. Then I transferred for some dumb ass reason. My two brothers weren't smart enough to get in to U of I but they are doing alright. So I have six siblings too. Will never like Ohio State, and even less Michigan State, but that is the way it is. Enjoy your season everyone. May your brats be hot and your Old Styles cold. I'm sorry, but adding "THE" to the front of Ohio State University and accentuating it like it's part of the name is just so ridiculously arrogant. How about the University of Ohio, the University of Minnesota, the University of Wisconsin? The list goes on. OSU is a great university with a strong history of academics and athletics, but there are dozens and dozens of other fine universities. Accentuating "THE" Ohio State University lacks humbleness and implies that they're better than everyone else. They're not.

The University of Ohio is in Athens, Ohio. More commonly called Ohio University or THE Ohio University. Home of the Bobcats! :)

While I appreciate the "clarification", I think it is facetious. In my experience, the Buckeyes I know personally do not do it at all "tongue in cheek", nor is their arrogance feigned. It is very real. After years of season tickets for football games in our own stadium, I can state with some regret that the rudest, most profane, belligerent and arrogant visiting fans I have ever encountered are Buckeyes. It always surprises me, as our big rivals are supposed to be the Wolverines, but they usually behave in quite a civil manner in the stands. Comparatively speaking.

We have a wonderful niece and nephew who are graduates of "The" Ohio State University and we enjoy their company greatly. I suppose, because we are family and they knew us before they became Buckeyes, they have to still treat us well. It hasn't seemed to rub off on them. But I would have a hard time finding any other Buckeyes of my acquaintance who do not have a genuine stripe of arrogance running through and through.

It's a fine university. There are many. Go Badgers! :-)

And go Green! (Yes, I know we aren't playing for anything anymore, but still, I like to see my team win.)

Good question. I know where to find the answer. Go to THE Atlantis. There's a speakeasy there. I can't give you its address, but it is THE speakeasy. Guess THE password. Go up to the bartender. He's easy to recognize because he's THE Bigfoot. Order THE secret cocktail. Again, you'll have to guess its name and password. It'll be served in THE Holy Grail. Drain THE Grail and you'll find Jimmy's source at the bottom of THE cup. You'll have to fight your way out with THE Loch Ness monster guarding the egress. Easy-peasy.
