Thoughts? Any feedback? Thinking of going with this for car camping for the wife.

Exped makes good products - this would be nice for car camping!

Ditto on having tried in store. Super comfy. Heavy but for car camping; I would say go for it.

For base camping I'd go with this instead. I have two. Super comfy, fifty bucks less and you will never ever have to replace it. They're tough as nails. I have two for raft camping. I strap a table across the front bay of the frame and strap the pads down over that. My girl rides up there all day then just drags them up to camp when it's time. They get dropped, dragged up gravel bars, have heavy stuff piled on them, etc. and no issues. They also work for floating in the lake or river (seriously) and you can even run rapids on one if that's your thing. Aire Landing Pad

Agree,
I know you said car camping but the weight was my first thought.

3 problems with the Megamat 10: heavy, bulky when packed, and a pain to get the air out and roll it up. It's a beast. You can't just roll it up. You have to fold it over, sit on it, repeat that again, and maybe roll it twice before you get all the air out.

A 4th problem is storage. If you store it rolled up it will not self-inflate in camp because the foam has been compacted. But do you have room to store it inflated at home? And if you do store it inflated, you have to go through all that rigamarole to roll it up before your trip.

The Exped Synmat Mega 12 solves all of those problems very neatly. It's much lighter, much smaller when packed, deflates instantly, rolls up easily. It has 90% of the comfort of the Megamat and you will never miss the other 10. Warm down to almost zero. In fact it's even thicker than the Megamat.

I don't think the Megamat has any advantage over the Synmat Mega 12. I sold my Megamat and don't miss it a bit. The Synmat Mega 12 can be used for everything: car, kayak, canoe, maybe even backpacking and bike packing.

5th problem: $230 is way too much money for something that I'd only use car camping.

Seems like a solution for a non-existent problem. But a really nice one.

Have one. It's a wonder to sleep on. Avoid inflation to the maximum to get a more restful sleep. I don't recall it being a hassle to deflate. Definitely a car camping deluxe mat.
