I need mapping software for my Lowrance Hook 4 unit. I’m looking at the Navionics + Chip that covers most lakes in USA and Canada. It is on sale for $30.00 off now at Cabelas. I did a search here and not much resent talk about it.
Any thoughts or reviews about this product?
Thanks

Well, easy to see by the outline map that it covers every US state and Canadian province (although no lakes show up in their list for Newfoundland & Labrador, Nunavut, PEI, or Yukon). Your link is also a great one-stop resource for zooming in on a given lake to see if it is covered (or, just to take a quick screenshot). Using that tool, I found a few disappointing no-shows... like Lac La Croix, and most -- if not all -- of Quetico. But it does provide seamless coverage across the border in ways other chips do not... ie. Lac Seul, the upper reaches of LOW. (And, what is it about David Lake east of Sand Point Lake that no chip ever includes?? It's in this Ontario list but no lines shown on the map. Must be another David Lake.)

I expanded the entire lake list and pasted into Excel... it counted up 21,547 bodies of water for me. Pretty impressive.

Seems like a winner for anyone who has a compatible plotter and who hasn't already covered their target areas with previous purchases. (Is Navionics+ US and Canada a new product? or on the way out?)

I think this is made more for the fisherman who is in a powerboat fishing, not a canoe tripping in Canada. That is probably why they don’t show much of that area.

I have seen this chip out for a few years, haven’t heard anything about dropping it. I don’t think they would drop this because it is being constantly updated daily by other users. You just remove the chip, plug it into a card reader and into your computer, than upload and download any data.

My system is to use a cheap portable and the Navionics app on my IPad. Keep in mind my iPad has a data package and my trips are day trips on the Canadian side of bwood
