My niece is getting me some lures for Christmas. I told her to get me a Whopper Plopper and gave her the colors. One of the colors was Munky Butt and I am almost sure that is what she will get for me. :)

That is funny Mike. The last time I got lures for Christmas, it was 3 of the Rapala DT series. Big fat plugs designed to run at deep depths. Never got a bite on them and relegated them to the "spare" box. Perhaps I should do as you did and ask for something specific. Gotta love Munky Butt.

Man oh man, thats all I need is more lures. Or more rods, or more reels. I want some shirts from Carbon2Colbalt. Nice stuff.

At my last job, a coworker and I decorated the work Christmas tree with our muskie lures. We had more than enough to make a good showing. Good thing OSHA didn't see that tree...

I put a whopper plopper and one of the big game series doctor spoons on my list. My boys are just getting started on getting their own gear and they're going to get a big supply of plain hooks, slip bobbers and split shots. And a few tiny torpedoes, the excitement on their faces when fish smash those is priceless.

You know those guys are all true fisherman by the way they lie all of the time.....haha.
I used to eat crawdads sometimes down at the river while catfishing :) Put the tails on the end of stick and roast them in the fire.

I wish my Dad would have bought me lures when I was kid, but he didn't fish. No one in my family fishes. Grandpa was the the person who got me going back in the day.......

It's just as hard for young boys as it is grown men. When they're with me all they want is the big fancy (and expensive) stuff. However, there have been plenty of days in the BW when I swear I'm never bring in so much tackle and just bringing the basics and some more bait. I'll try teaching them at a young age to not carry as much tackle and catch just as many fish as their dad.

That's a good idea! I'll have to do that at my lake house.

I am hoping for a new spinner rod. I have been dropping hints all over the place but without the strait out "I want this" conversation. More of a "my old spinner rods are getting on a bit" and "I need some new lures but then it will make my rods look old". Maybe I will get both rod and lures. :)

You need to leave fishing catalogs like Cabelas or BassPro around opened up to the page that has the spinning rod you want. Also leave up web pages or your PCs or ipads with the pictures of the rod. Maybe write down the exact rod and size and leave these as page makers in the catalogs or next to your PC? Good luck! Welcome to the message board!
