Smucker's Natural. (1) Creamy or (2) Chunky. Eat with apples and dark chocolate.

Agree. Smucker's Natural is the best. Chunky.

Every once in a while I get a jar that's sort of hard to stir. But it's all good.

Xylitol free. It's a sweetener common in some peanut butters that is very toxic to pets.

Chunky. To be specific, Wal-Mart's house brand, Great Value. Their chunks are practically whole peanuts; and there are a lot of them.

I saw an article a long time ago that claimed that men prefer chunky whereas women go for creamy.

Smuckers Natural chunky. Their chunky is roasted darker and better than the pricier natural brands but it is still just peanuts and salt. It’s one of the few things that draws us back into a national chain grocery store.

As for the male/female thing, woe unto the man that tries to give my wife creamy peanut butter.

Jelly is berry from a local place that makes their own with as low sugar as will set. Berries are tayberry, blackberry, strawberry in that order. Ollalieberry is also good but is dying from a disease. Chain brands will largely be raspberry.

People who like creamy are just dead wrong. There is only one way. The only true peanut butter is chunky, free-range, antibiotic free, hemp-infused, dark roast, wild PB made from legumes grown on conflict-free land that has never been owned by a Republican or a Democrat. If you like other kinds you are bad.

Also: the dairy industry is crying foul over the almond industry calling their stuff Almondmilk. What about butter? I'd say that's even egregiouser (not a word.)
12/12/2017 06:03AM
Creamy. Natural is best but I will eat any. I have taken to buying the little Jif cups because we don't eat much peanut butter (Spartan1 is not a fan) and it tends to not get used up before it gets rancid. I really prefer almond butter to peanut butter, too. The almond butter with maple is especially good on apple slices.

Jelly, peach or apricot, all fruit spread. I do NOT use artificial sweeteners, but like all fruit jam best. If using the real stuff, raspberry or strawberry. Or blueberry. any kind will do except orange marmalade.

And obviously, from the above post (made minutes before mine) I am wrong all the way around. And I will still go happily about the rest of my day. :-) :-)

For years I was a hard core creamy guy. Recently I like creamy, then add my own mixed nuts from Aldi....which are mostly almonds and cashews. Weird, I know.

I picked up several jars of the powdered to slather on Bagels as a quick trail lunch but noticed that it doesn't provide much in the way of nutrition. Which sort of defeats the purpose. I like Nutella on a bagel but it is high in cholesterol as well.

I like creamy and pretty much stick (pun intended) with Jiff.

We try to buy very little from Walmart, but that is one thing we concede; we really like that peanut butter.

As for the "Chunky" vs "Creamy?" We used to buy both because I liked one, my wife the other. I PREFER the chunky but, unfortunately, my digestive system has decided nuts are one of those "Trigger" foods that it does not want me to eat. So, we buy the creamy version only now.

Funny story. Hubby and I have been married 22 years. While at Aldis I said I missed chunky peanut butter. He says you like it? I say yes I prefer it but I buy creamy for him. He says he likes chunky and buys creamy for me. We had a good laugh over that.

I have done PB and Miracle Whip burritos in Quetico for lunch. Skippy Chunky all the way :)
12/12/2017 10:42AM
Sun butter is alright, first had it on the trail at Philmont.

I'm a chunky guy, always been. Back when I didn't pay so much attention to what things were made of my go to was honey roasted skippy. Oh man, it was just like a bag of honey roasted peanuts.

Seems like the kids only like creamy on sandwiches because that's how my wife has always made them. But, the kids that have learned you can take a spoonful of peanut butter and disappear with it seem to prefer the chunky.

My wife strictly likes creamy.
12/12/2017 11:34AM

My grandfather “Poppy” used to eat PB, Mayo and Lettuce all the time. I never really acquired a taste for such a sandwich ... but I couldn’t wait for his arrival at our house and when he would hand out LifeSavers to us young grand kids ... my 3 brothers and I would all want the butterscotch lifesavers.

I have Jif Extra Crunchy peanut butter in the cabinet right now. Never liked jelly. Always been a straight up peanut butter guy. I grew up with seven brothers and sisters. My mom never got up till we were out the door and at the bus stop, so we made our own lunches. Almost every day it was peanut butter on Wonder bread with either a Hoho, Ding Dong, or a Twinkee, depending on what we had. So the absence of jelly may have been a convenience thing. I only had five minutes to put this together! I don't remember there being chunky back then. We usually had Skippy. I don't remember ever being hungry either. But I would have been if you put mayonnaise or Miracle Whip on it. That is gross... That's what I would have said back in the day, waiting at the bus stop. Cheers.

Never been much of a peanut butter fan so I don't buy it.
The wifey likes chunky and has these little tubes she would fill up throuh the bottom, she would take these into the BW so she could get her Peanut Butter fix.
Those must have been creamy, but I don't remember.

This thread reminds me of a remembrance my dad had about the Great Depression: of his mother crying, because she could not afford to buy peanut butter for the kids. That was in east Tennessee, so it was pretty close to peanut country...
Don't mean to be Debby Downer; peanuts have a long history in this country. Partial to creamy.

I have never heard of milk trying to taste like a almond and I have never heard of butter claiming to taste like margarine.
