I had some downtime and wanted a bit of a "fix" via You Tube. Now, I fish when I get out, but my own trips are not all about fishing - quite a variety of things happen. Are there any You Tubers out there with trip videos (BWCA or otherwise) that aren't musical slideshows or all fishing? I get it: fish--you fished; you like fishing, but give me something more than 5 days of you and your buddy fishing.

Neat! Thanks guys! We (myself and friends) are super terrible about documenting our trips. Yeah, some photos get taken and the rare video, but rarely is any of it very presentable. Alongside resolving to be a better advocate for wilderness enjoyment, I'm hoping to better showcase my own experiences for sharing with those who are not able to join me in person.

butthead, looking through your stuff is always a little different to me because you're like one of the bwca.com "celebs" but without knowing you personally, I know that you live in Burlington (I live in Racine, and work out of Waukesha throughout the SE WI area including commuting past and working in Burlington often). It's not a bad thing--it's just interesting resolving the juxtaposition of butthead from bwca.com with Ken from 15 min away.

Well we should do something about that! Maybe get together after the Holidays?
I and mine heading to Arizona (time for a road trip), to celebrate the season with family. May I get hold of ya after the 1st?

butthead

PS: Not a "celeb" just butthead. bh

Google bill mason song of the paddle. Unlike butthead this guy was a Canadian celebrity. Make sure you watch the part where he is paddling huge rollers in Lake Superior. Excellent stuff, his book on white water is one of the best for that subject.

Go to YouTube and search for Shuggery. He’s mostly a hiker so you will see trips inside and outside the BWCA. I enjoy his goofy humor and admire his toughness, -40 degree trip into Bear Head state park.
Lots of crossover information to learn and he’s a big hammock camper. If want to learn, experience and see hammock camping that’s a good place to start.

P.S. He has done a canoe trip into the BWCA.

P.S.S. He's also a wicked juggler and musician.

Oh, I've been watching Shug for years now. He's a great example! I'm waiting for mapleking.com to become a real thing.

How about Beav's videos? Are those still around?
Could use another dose of those myself.

There are some videos from Woodland Caribou Park in Ontario that may suit you. Only one (Gathering 2012 has music) and the titles will steer you away from some that have fishing in them.

Here is one of my favorite BWCA videos. It is musically scored but is about as far from the nothing but fish vidoes out there. Its so well shot and edited - its like a lesson in how to do a good video - and he is a member here on BWCA.com though I don't think he's been active for a while. Wish he would do more... BWCA Missing Link video

Hi mschi772- I started making wilderness videos this past spring and plan to continue to when I have time to get out. There is fishing involved, but I try to add a variety as well. Let me know what you think! Wilderness Enthusiast

YES! I've admired this video since it was first posted and it's what inspired me to try making videos as well. I'm getting there but this production of Nick's is quite beyond what I've been able to come up with and is top notch!

This is a really cheesy trailer for a lost film

Thanks, guys! Some fishing is fine. I mean, I do some fishing when I'm out. I was just getting tired of finding videos and seeing nothing BUT fishing. Now that the lady isn't sick anymore (had norovirus, and I was hanging around playing nurse for a few days), I don't quite have the same screen time available to me, but I'll work my way through everything you all shared.

I still do have plenty of time as my "day job" of lake/pond and natural area maintenance is over for the season, and my passion of detailing cars is also quite slow due to the season and the fact that I only officially launched it as a true business in September. I'm really hoping hard that I can grow my detailing business to something I can live on and quit the other job effectively turning THAT into a side hobby since I don't want to give-up natural resources work completely--I just don't enjoy it as a 40-60 hr/wk job....and the pay is terrible.
