I do some topwater fishing for smallies in the BWCA each spring and was thinking about adding split rings to my topwater lures [think Skitter Pops} and was wondering if by adding them would affect their action. I always use a short Ti leaders to keep the Northerns from biting them off. FRED

I really like the split rings on lures. It makes it easier to hook the lure if you use a swivel snap, especially on a lure with a lure like a Skitter Pop.
I think it adds to the action and also the noise the hooks make as it moves in the water. By adding a split ring to a treble hook it does turn the hook 90 deg so adjust the hook as needed.
