I'm looking to buy a used solo canoe that would be more efficient than paddling my 16' Adirondack from the bow.
I recently purchased a used Souris River Quetico 18.5 (Thanks ducks!), so I'm all set for family and tandem trips. I'd like to stop renting on all of the solo trips I have been doing.
I only have a budget of $800, so I realize that my options will be extremely limited.
However, I saw Longpaddler recently sold a great looking Royalex Bell Yellowstone with a list price of $800 and that gave me a bit of hope.
I'm not looking for anything ultralight or in perfect condition. Just a well used and well cared for boat.
Thanks!

Our hot water heater went out on Christmas morning; THAT"S what comes of me not working the holiday (LOL)! That has got me thinking about selling my Mad River Independence to cover the hot water heater and plumbing expenses raided from our savings?

If Matt picks up another boat before I am ready to sell, no worries.
I just got a backup offer.
So Matt, don't wait on me if you find something you want.

You're welcome Matt. Our family has a lot of great memories in that thing and we look forward to your family making their own.
I'm still on the lookout for a small kevlar tandem, so I'll let you know if I accidentally run across what you are looking for in my searches.

Thanks ducks. I can't wait to get the boat out this spring with the family. I guess I should have jumped on that used Northwind solo that sawtooth was selling for $1000 this fall, but the family boat had to come first. The Northwind is still my dream solo boat, but I don't think I'll see one listed at that price again.
If you happen to see a royalex solo, please give a shot.
Take care.

I have a cedar strip Kite that I'd let go for $800. It was built by a friend of mine and only paddled once or twice. He did a great job with it. It's white on the outside and natural on the inside. It appears I don't have any pictures of it handy. If you're interested I could take some when the weather allows.

Thank you for all of the responses!
Unfortunately, my garage door motor and springs failed recently (new house surprise) and I had to spend my solo canoe budget on fixing it.
On the upside, I will be able to save for a few months and have a slightly better budget by early spring.
I would love to find someone who has a used Northwind Solo, or something similar in size and stability. I want to be able to use it in smaller rivers as well as larger lakes.
However, my budget will only be around $1100.

Interested in a 1987 Wenonah Advantage @ 54 lbs? $400.00--no patches or cracks and was refinished when I purchased it 6 years ago. Hardly used it. Two light scratches on the like-new red finish. Will be putting it up for sale in upcoming Spring. Headed to BWCA in mid-June/Sawbill entry. My portaging weight restriction is 45 lbs. I just don't want to carry a heavier canoe cap than that anymore--at my 67 yrs. of age.

If MattM doesn't bite, I will. I've been looking for an Advantage myself. Shoot me an email, thanks mjmkjun.

Alan Gage: "boonie: "That Kite is a really nice looking canoe and I'll bet it's very nice to paddle, too. How much does it weigh? "
I don't remember the weight for sure. Low-mid 50's I think.
Thanks for the pictures, Jim!
Alan"
I don't think it was that heavy !
It was fun to paddle and stable !
Keep your paddle wet and your seat dry!
