BTW, my town, Blue Hill, Maine, also made the list, as did another town where I also looked at property: Traverse City, Michigan.

Doesn't surprise me. I love the scale and rugged character of Ely and the outdoor wonderland that surrounds it.

That's neat. One I noted was Leavenworth, Washington. I remember hiking up in the Cascades near there, the Icycle river, the prettiest place I'd ever been in my young life. Always thought I'd make it back there, but never have. Gotta do it some day!

Blue Hill, you say. Any chance you know Leda Beth who volunteers at the library and her husband Dave?
