New Primus stove system

It doesn't really fit my solo needs, but some of you who cook for groups and/or winter camp may be interested.

I have been contemplating this stove system for a few weeks. I saw it being used on the New Scandinavian Cooking show. It looks ideal for real cooking for a small group.

Many online reviews I have read note that the tight fit of the stacking pots makes scratching the the non-stick surface of the outer pot inevitable. Still, I might find it hard not to add this set to my collection.

Must be winter boredom but ya sucked me in. Primus Essential Lite 1.3L And REI who has this and the Primetech At good prices, not sure but Primus list each with 2 pots, REI only one. Burners and windscreens the same.

Ordered an Essential system and will post a review when it arrives. Looks versatile enough for my preferences!

I figured you'd be all over any stove post, butthead. I don't think the new one previewed is due out until March. I hope you've got a big stove budget! :)

No budget, but did spring for the basic Essential Lite 1.3 set for $60. Hard to find a new burner at that price! Add pot/lid/grippers/frypan/windscreen and it's a buy. If I do not like it look for it in the "For Sale Section".

The PimeTech set is only $20 more, HE pot, strainer lid, locking grippers. Same burner/windscreen.

The set arrived today. Just under $60 from REI, fairly basic with one pot 1.3L, frypan/lid, pot grip, reflector, bag, and instructions. 1st full new kit I have ever purchased.

Shown with a MSR Blacklit set,

1.3L pot just fits in the low position, high supports pulled out pots sit above the windscreen. It has a thermal feedback to vaporize the fuel (the brass piece that sticks up at side of the burner head). Lit up first spark, adjusts from small flame to high well. Solid construction, can use different pots/pans, cools down fast after shut off, burner is attached to the screen with screws not rivets but not meant to be used as a stand alone burner. Initial impression is a very good value. I decided on this combo instead of the HE Ceramic coated set as it's my first venture into an integrated set.
Back with more after some cooking.

PS: Day later and looked at prices, the REI price for this and the Primetech has been reduced further to 50%, $39.93 Essential Lite 1.3, $59.93 Primetech 1.3. The REI kits differ a bit from the Primus website by leaving out the piezo striker and the extra pot. bh

Used it a few times in the garage, 20 degrees air temp and boiled up several 16 ounce pots from 45 degrees. Average time to boil was 3.5 minutes, so not as high a output as WindPro, Alocs, PocketRocket and such. I did invert canisters to feed liquid fuel, it's tricky with the regulated valve. Inverted works, but the stove needs to be hot, and careful flame adjusting, nothing dramatic but burner ports go out before the flame simmers, adjusting slowly takes care of that. It does simmer well, fried an egg with minimal brown edging. Now that REI lowered prices even more wish I had purchased the Primetech, for the HE pot!

Not in the high heat output category, but well made and easy to setup/use/take down, it does cool off quickly. I could handle it without worry after 2 minutes of shut off. It can use a variety of pot/pan diameters, larger will just sit on the ring (can do a great job of simmering in a 7 inch or larger frypan). It is a stable cooking platform.

It will be a regular part of my go to camp gear, just not much on backpacks or canoe trips. The weight is fine but the packaged volume does not work well with how I pack.
