What's the portage like from Beaverhouse to Cirrus lake? I see there is a lake in the middle. Wondering on degree of difficulty, if it is usually muddy all the time, steep hills, etc.

I did it a few years ago. Pretty easy. Thought it was first portage of first solo. Not sure how that impacts my impression. It was a Misty wet day. As you probably know it is mostly an old logging railroad right of way.

I knew the portage from the Beaverhouse parking lot to BH lake used to be an old railroad bed but not this portage.

I would concur with the observations of BC. The route from BH to the noname before Cirrus has some length to it, but is unremarkable otherwise. You will find a wide pathway, with a very slight uphill gradient as you leave BH. The jump from the nonamer to Cirrus, quite frankly left no impression. I'd have to assume by this that there were no real challenges here ... a "normal" Quetico portage.

I took this route 2 seasons ago in July. The passage had not been subjected to a recent rain, which might have altered my impression.

Yep, it's a pretty easy portage. Not much to worry about.

The portage from BH to the small no name has a 20 ft steep lift right at the start,then is an easy stroll through the woods to the no name. A brief paddle along the north shore to the short portage to Cirrus. Downhill to Cirrus has one large curved rock to walk down carefully, otherwise no problem. Davkumi and I did this the year before you went with us.

One other nice thing is if it a big wind day and you went to Atikokan to get your permit, the short paddle from the parking lot portage to the Cirrus Portages avoids going out into the big water part of Beaverhouse. Also, the western part of Cirrus is an hour long narrows.

Thanks Ron. We are gonna head down to Sue Falls and maybe over to Kasakokwog lake.

That was my first solo route and i did benefit ftom not having to cross BH. The portage ftom Cirtus to Kasakokwog is or was a litte tricky to find and not easy. I ended up resting and lunching at high point. I was struggling to solve a portaging problem.
