Being on a mailing list actually paid-off! TNH Outdoors did a giveaway of their sleeping bags the other day, and I scored one for free. They also sneaked-in a 30% offer for their pillow and sleeping bag liner. I've been super satisfied with their hammocks and waist pouch, so I bit. The bag is great, the liner is a liner (what else is there to say?), and the pillow is just about as good as my much pricier Sea-to-Summit pillow. All together, this cost just over $20. Can't wait to use it!

This was actually somewhat needed as until now my only decent sleeping bag is my Big Agnes Dream Island, and if I ever went solo or in a group without someone willing to share a bag with me, that big double bag was not gonna cut it. Now I finally have a decent 1-person bag again.

As I am pretty well equipped with camping gear right now, I would have rather had that Deluxe Reverb. Looks really nice!

I figured someone would spot that. That's a great story, too.

I originally had a big, heavy, crummy amp. My girlfriend knew that I didn't like it and would prefer something higher quality even if it was smaller. One day she was browsing freecycle.org (people post stuff not for sale but for free) looking for whatever. She called me over to her computer saying, "Your guitar is a Fender, right? They make good amps, too?" When I saw it, I was excited. I assumed it was a reproduction, and even then I couldn't believe someone would give it away for free, and only 10 min from our house?! We got in the car immediately.

We arrive to find that it's a mother who is clearing her empty nest after all of her kids have moved away now, and it is a completely ORIGINAL early-mid 70's Deluxe Reverb! That grill cloth damage you see in the photo--that's the only flaw. $1200 amp....for free! She also gave us 3 never-used vintage Shure microphones with it. Unreal!
