Not sure if this has been brought up before so here goes. I am looking for an app for my I-pad that covers lakes maps, contours etc. looking for something that will cover Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Ontario, BW would be bonus. Does not need to be a free app but at least reasonable. I have three boats, often use a rental boat in Canada, and rent a canoe for trips to BW, so want something I can just take with me. Just can’t afford to upgrade my permanent depth finders or my portable to gps units. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Have you checked into the Navionics app? We use it on our iPad and it works very well. The only thing I'm not sure on is coverage in Canada. It does have most BW lakes with reasonable accuracy.

I have been using the Navionics HD app on iPad for years, works very well. I use it in the canoe and on a couple of fishing boats. I don’t know how complete the Canadian side is, last I checked it was lacking compared to the US side.

I bought the Navionics plus chip for my fish finder and really like it. Highly recommend this chip or app. It has most every lake in the USA and Canada charted at one foot levels. The same thing can be bought in an app for a cell phone or iPad. You just need to download before you hit the water with an iPad or cell phone. They are adding more depth chart information every day. The way it works is you chart a Lake when you fish it when your graph is on. Then the next time you connect to a computer you dump all that information so everyone else can use it. It’s a great idea. Navionics was sold to Garmin and now they are a worldwide mapping and charting company.

Go to the Navionics website and look at the Lakes they have charted. Most good lakes will be charted.
