Going up the Q at the end of may and would really like to try 2 thingsz;Try the topwater bass fishing in the no-name pond between Lonely and Antoine, and B, try the laker fishing in Antoine. The portage between them no longer exsists, and the other routes that connect involve several miles of paddle and portage. I'n not sure my stamina and my arthritis can handle all that P&P. Obviously I could simply choose one option and forget the other. But there does seem to be one possibility: a bushwhack between the two. On the map it looks feasable, but it would depend largely how thick and unforgiving the woods are in that spot. I'm hoping for an answer like "forget it, those are as thick as any woods in the park,; or "with a leightweight canoe, a GPS, and a machete for hacking through the dead cedar thickets, you could do it easily"
I tried to get from lonely to the pond last year. I did a short portage then a couple of hundred yards in a small creek and ran into a meadow. From there it looked like a long portage across a rough muddy meadow and then a bushwhack of unknown but likely great difficulty. There were plenty of big bass to be caught without going in there so I enjoyed some time in the meadow and turned around. I have a couple of meadow photos if you are super determined to get there.
