I've gone thru Mudro numerous times en route to great fishing elsewhere. Or exited the BWCA the same way, tired, dirty, happy. But always wondering in the back of my mind, as I paddled thru this entry point lake with no campsites....am I paddling right over some good fishing? Anyone actually try? Have any idea of depths or species present? Hear any stories or rumors? Thanks.

Our group was in too big a hurry to get in and later in too big a hurry to get out, of the BW.
Day trippers may have the most experience with entry lakes such as Mudro.

One of the Chain Saw Sisters owners told us that Mudro can be a good walleye lake, and laughed at all the work people do to get to good fishing when they run right through without dropping a line.
I also remember a worker at VNO telling us how there was a hot bite on Mudro and him and some other workers were fishing it for walleyes,
I have no real life experience.

I think there is one campsite, I've seen someone setup there.
We made good time on the way out once and I decided to throw my twister into good looking spots along shore on the way. Not a bite, figured at least a smallie but nope

I've caught a small walleye, a small northern, and a small smallmouth. I do mean small, and fished it fairly hard on a day when the fish were biting pretty good on other lakes. I was not impressed, but have no doubt that it might be better if you knew it well. It seemed to have little water in the littoral zone.
So many fish,so little time

A few years ago on Mudro, I caught a smallmouth that was roughly 19" as we were approaching the stream on the way back to the EP. Ended up accidentally chasing a submerged beaver in the creek too (could see him just under the surface next to us trying to get away). Unless we're in a hurry, we usually throw a lure or two on the way in or out of Mudro just to wet the lines for the first time/one last time. We've never stopped to really fish it properly, though.
