I will be trying to catch Lake Trout in the middle of March. I've never ice fished for Lakers and need some advice. I plan to use 10 lb. mono with a flouro leader. For tackle I'm thinking white tubes, jigging raps and ripping raps. How does that sound?
Any must haves?
I'm trying to travel light so don't want to haul live bait. Is dead/frozen/preserved bait a viable option for a tip up? Is it available?
Thanks for any and all input.

Mnpat- I'm not sure of my destination, a lot depends upon travel conditions.
Would a dead sucker work on a tip up? Seems like smelt and Cisco are hard to find.
How about preserved bait? I've seen preserved (ziplock bags) bait in chain stores like Cabela's and Fleet.
Walllee- Do spoons need to be tipped?
Thanks for you help.
