Hi. I prefer paddling a solo canoe with my ottertail paddle. However, if need be I can make much better time with my kayak paddle. I was wondering if anyone who uses a kayak paddle in their solo canoe has used a Greenland-style paddle, and if so, how they like it? Seems like a two piece Greenland paddle would be easier to portage, would be lighter (all things equal), and I like the many more all wood options available. But perhaps using a Greenland-style paddle with a solo canoe is not viable??? Thank you for looking.

One thing to consider - Greenland style paddles can be easily made inexpensively with basic wood working skills and tools. I have made 2 for my sailing canoe with different lengths and the materials were less than $20 for each.

In my opinion, Greenland style paddles are an acquired taste. At first you feel like you get no bite in the water, but they are very comfortable for me and I like them for long distances.
