Here is quite a large bass. Has anyone caught bass this large on inland waters? Maybe the depths of the Great Lakes?

Striped Bass that size are actually pretty plentiful even here in central Illinois. Especially on the power plant cooling lakes .Our small lake that our city pulls their water from produces many over 20 pounds each season.

We have the large hybrids here in Ohio called WIPERS ( mix of white and striped bass )

I would think there would be some large fish -- either bass and/or lake trout that could come with some serious heft. However, I would guess they couldn't reach this size due to a shorter season, limited forage by comparison to other lakes further south and maybe fishing-pressure along the border lakes?

I think that species is actually ANVLB (A Nuclear Very Large Bass)

The most impressive catches on this list are the 43# lake trout and 17# walleye.

MN Dnr records

I've caught both in the Ohio below McAlpine.

Impressive. I'm curios if those are native to that part of Ohio? I've seen photos of steelhead that run the rivers in the norteastern section of the state near Erie. Someday I'll stop there to fish for them.

Have anyone fished the Maumee? It's rumored to have great walleye fishing but I would think I'd want to be much further south of Toledo and the developments to get into the fish. Where 80 crosses that part of the river it looks to have huge flow towards the lake.

I have before, will never again. It was crazy. People lined along the river, shoulder to shoulder for as far as you could see. People crossing over each other's line constantly. People cutting other people's line. Lots of people in arguments. One of the worst fishing experiences I ever had. There are some big fish in there, but it wasn't worth it.

Well then, that's an experience that I think I can miss!
