Found a good deal. Well I hope I found a good deal. Going to check out some used rentals, Wenonah Adirondack Canoes With Royalex Hull later this week. I was told the majority of these canoes need the kevlar end caps repaired or replaced. They're priced at $300 a piece. Depending on the difficulty level I could probably do the repairs myself. Would it cost a fortune to have someone more experienced do the work for me?

Check out Northwest Canoe in St. Paul. They sell kevlar skid plates and have instructions on installation on their website. There also is a You Tube video. If you prefer, they also will replace them in their shop.
I set a goal of losing 10 lbs. this year. I only have 15 left to lose.

Thanks! I watched some videos & it seems rather easy to me.

End caps or the stems? If it's the end caps, I'd use fiberglass like automotive repair kits have. Not very expensive and very easy. If you want to replace them, Wenonah is probably very reasonable? Also, I have a composite end cap for a similar hull, a 16' Ranger Otter that I'd send you if you want it? Don't worry about shipping, I've got it. Let me know.
As for stems, what kind of hull? Pics? I have used some very economical repairs in the past. Depends on hull and damage.

Not sure if I am going to purchase yet. I am going to take a look at them Friday & will know more then. Sounds like they are talking about the skid plates. They look pretty rough.

Hmm, some folks put skid plates on as prevention instead of post damage. You may have a pretty good hull with minimal damage beneath the skid plates?
