We are thinking to, at our age, base camping on Red Rock Lake next August. Have the recent fires hit the Lake? Which of the half dozen campsites are the best for at least 3 tent pads? If the fires have hit the Lake and the tent sites are mediocre, how about Red Rock Bay of Saganaga? Are there quite a few tow boats going to the Bay each day? Thanks for any help!

Spent a couple days on Red Rock in July 2016. Only the bottom third of the lake, maybe one campsite, has fire damage. The central and northern parts of the lake were untouched.

There's a little bit of traffic on the lake, passing through to Alpine, but not much. We saw one or two other canoes per day.

We stayed at campsite #407, about halfway down the lake on the western shore, this was a nice site with an easy canoe landing and good spot to fish from shore. It will easily accommodate 3 tents. This picture is from that campsite:

We also explored site #410, on the north-east part of the lake, also a very nice site.

Hey, John!
Thanks so much! I like that open rock view of the lake! Sounds like a winner! I had #407 on my radar. Good sunrise views for our early riser!

Stayed at the South end of Red Rock the campsites weren't that fantastic but the fishing was great.
