My winter gear addiction problem has been a sudden fondness for "old man knives". Pictures below. I've had the one in the middle forever, no idea where it came from. Looks like someone carried it in their pocket for many years. I couldn't find a Case knife dealer nearby so I bought a few new ones as kind of trial and error for sizing - I ordered Case, errr, because I wanted made in USA.
Pictured (l to r, top row): Case baby butterbean/chestnut, Case peanut/chestnut bone, very old knife, Case medium Jack/amber bone, Case mini Copperlock/chestnut.
I really like the baby butterbean, and the mini copperlock . They are very thin in your pocket, but still have a big solid blade. Below is a picture showing thickness. The leftmost is the smallest Victorinox swiss army classic, 2nd from left is butterbean, 4th from left is the trapperlock.
I ordered this one with a canoe on it, which I think completes my "collection".

Love them knives! I purchased my first case late last year and its everything I can do not to keep buying them. My first was that canoe knife (the CV blades are awesome), a black Russlock, and most recently a hunter green seahorse whittler. Great EDC knives.

I had the one in the top row, second from left for a long time. Got it at the camp store at scout camp when I was on staff there. One of the scout masters told me to get it and how to razor-sharpen it, then showed me how to carve a chain out of a piece of basswood. Haven't though about that in years. Wish I still had that knife.

I received the larger of these little lock backs as a gift many years ago. I found it to be so handy for field dressing a deer, doing bovine obstetrics or sharpening a pencil that when I lost it I just had to hunt down another older USA version to replace it. I bought the wrong size...the 3OT... and I think I like it even better!
