Generous? I asked for his articles and I had to provide a credit card #. If you get all of them as a package its not such a bad deal but individually it really added up.

Ahem.......to the uninitiated of course I am kidding. There is much to be gleaned, particularly with the Zulus IMO, for novice and expert alike........And I still haven't added the Lucky 13 to my arsenal but it is in the back of my mind. Trouble is I always go in August and see no need for it. Bullfrog Lucky 13.......big fish bang'em lure.

I never get tired of that picture either. It is the biggest pike I ever caught. I have caught other big pike and smallmouth on the Lucky 13 in Sept., but not as big as that one. I caught a 43 incher about 100 yards south of that spot 4 years earlier in September on a Lucky 13. I watched it swim up behind the lure in slow motion about 10 feet out from shore. It finally hit the lure after letting it sit for a long pause. Caught that fish on 9/11 ( 2001 ). I didn't know about 9/11 until 9/15. You can read my 9/11 story by clicking on the link below.

If you want to go fishing get a hold of me sometime this summer and let me know when you might be coming through this way. I'm only charging $100 for 6 hours of guiding. Don't worry, as you know I already have your credit card information from when you purchased those articles. LOL ;)

Thats a deal!

$100 only buys the bait (shiners) for 6 hours fishing with my pal who guides on the Big O out of Roland Martins Marina. I dunno, $350 plus bait and tip seems awfully steep to fish for bass if you ask me. But then again he provides the boat etc. The salt water guides are even worse (yikes!).

Yikes! That's a monster. Did you have a titanium leader on your line?

Yes, I had a titanium leader. I was also using 30 pound Trilene Fireline. The braided line really helps the Lucky 13 pop with the no stretch in the line. Actually didn't even have to move this lure after I made the cast. Just chucked it out there and let it bob in the waves for at least a minute before I saw this enormous head come straight up out of the water like a periscope, suck up the bait and then the head slowly sank again. I questioned myself on whether I saw what I had just seen. Reeled up the slack and set the hook.

I don't think I could ever pay someone to take me fishing. That's just me, I'm sure some people need help locating fish and being shown the correct presentations. $350 sounds like a lot of money to me. I can do a Quetico trip for that much ( minus hotels and gas to get there ). No live bait for me either, strictly lures :)

I recently found out that the BWJ will be publishing another one of my poems, called Quetico Spring. Should be coming out next week. This will be my 16th published poem in the BWJ. They also asked me to write another fishing article and poem for the Fall issue this year.

Congratulations! I'll be looking for both contributions this fall. I appreciate the info that you've shared QM. I can never pitch that lucky heddon 13 bullfrog without thinking of the
monster pike that swallowed yours!

Thanks, hopefully they like my article and publish it. I have plenty of time to work on it.

Boundary Waters Journal did not publish my Fall fishing article in the current magazine. Stu said he liked it, already edited it for publishing, but couldn't find room in this year's issue. He said it would be published next Fall. They did publish my poem " Quetico Fall " on the final page. If anyone wants to read any of my other articles listed at the top of this thread just send me an email - queticomike@yahoo.com
