I would think you would need to use a stiffer rod with that lure. Looks like work casting and retrieving a lure with that much drag.

Not much in the way of a blade to create drag. All of the minnows on the ones I've seen make the lure look like like it is something you could pitch from a usual Quetico rod. Has anyone used umbrella rigs or anything similar....

I like it but Mikes right. That is going to need a certain type of rod and preferably some braid IMO. Just read an article in either In Fisherman or bass masters mag about the equipment the pros use with these types of baits. Long 8' med action rods are the norm to load and cast these types of baits.

But where there is a will theres a way. I think it looks like a bang'em lure myself. Worst case scenario is you could easily troll it. I bet fish would rise a good distance to clobber that bait ball. Give it a shot, the pros are doing well with these types of lures. Don't forget to try for lakers with it especially on a cloudy or rainy day when they tend to be nearer the surface.

Never been a spinnerbait fisherman? Your missing the boat. Back in the day that was practically all we fished with.......haven't used it much in canoe country though.

Make sure if you plan to use an umbrella rig up there that only one lure has hooks on it like the one pictured above. I believe two lures or more with hooks on the same rig is not legal.

I plan on using it unconventionally as a jigging lure for Lakers. Think it might work nicely.

Worth a shot. Wouldn't be the first time I wasted money on a lure that only caught fishermen.

I might be a bit concerned about the hooking ability wallee. I can see fish hitting this thing 3 or 4 times and not getting hooked while jigging it. Try it and see, you will feel them busting it and if you fail to hook up you will know.

I to am planning on doing some serious time jigging for lakers.........but I am FINALLY going to go strong on the Shimano Butterfly jigging spoons. They are incredibly effective in the salty stuff, I can't see why freshwater fish would be any different.

might be worth adding a Sting-R hook to it

Yes, that is a very good possibility, but that also happens with conventional jigging set ups. Many times I have had them hit my lure of choice 3 or more times before either getting hooked or returning to the abyss unscaved .
