Heading to Gabbro Lake a little late this year, end of June. This will be our first trip there, any recommendations that you are willing to share? We plan on on hitting the inlets/outlets from Little Gabbro and Bald Eagle, as well as the bays on Gabbro. Would you recommend day trips to the 4 lakes just to the NE or rather head into the Kawishiwi River to drop some lines? I'd really like to put my kids on some fish and would appreciate any advice! I've heard that Gabbro can produce some good fishing but because of the easy access can also be hit or miss.

Thanks!

Turtle lake is worth the portage from bald eagle. Great northern fishing

Great fishing lake and unless you really want the work, no need to paddle or portage into the other lakes. I wrote a couple of trip reports on our time in Gabbro you can read, and feel free to email me. Actually thinking about taking my kids there at the end of August this year.

You might be able to find shallow crappies that time of year on Gabbro. That'd be a riot with the kids.
