Hey folks,

Back in the day, I used to crank out Lindy rigs like it was going out of style.

Flash forward 25 years and I want to make them again. Back when I made them as a kid the old man would buy the components. I was 10 after all.

Now it’s my turn to buy the components.

Going in mid May. Bringing frozen suckers and either leeches or crawlers. Leaning toward crawlers with the late winter we have going on.

What size hooks? Blades? Beads?

Also, I’m interested in the slow death rigs. Anyone make these? I have the same questions regarding them.

What size hooks? What size blades? Beads?

Again, I want to say that I truly appreciate all of the info gathered from this board. I did a search and found a lot of threads regarding Lindy rigs. Didn’t find any with the info I was after. I must say, that is a pretty rare occurance.

:)

Thanks,

Mr. B

I can't speak to the effectiveness of slow death rigs up in the BWCA. We use them all the time elsewhere, with great success, and we usually just use a plain slow death hook. Sometimes we'll add a bead or three, but I don't know how much of a difference that makes. Sometimes we'll use a smiley blade, but that's usually to add some lift to keep it up above weeds.

That's a long way to say, I've had my best slow death success with a plain hook. Your mileage may vary, of course. :)

Nothing complicated about it (what I've used to some success). Some hooks (Gamakatsu #6 Octopus red/green/blue), weights (standard Lindy slip/walking 3/8 oz fluoro orange/chartreuse), beads (super-glo white/green/blue), line (Gamma Polyflex Copolymer 6 lb clear/green).
